Our Mission: Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ

We’re not sure which is harder, being a teenager or being the parent of a teenager. Our youth ministry is here to help you not just survive but thrive during these precious years.

Our philosophy is simple; life is better when we are more closely connected with God and each other. Jesus Christ makes that life possible, and our youth ministry is designed to help youth and families like you dive deeper in your relationships with God and each other.

Sunday Vespers (5pm-7pm)

On Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings, students have the opportunity to grow in the faith through Bible study, prayer, games, food, and fellowship.

Confirmation is a modern adaptation of an ancient church practice by which individuals were prepared for entry into Christian faith and life. Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
Confirmation is a year-long process and is designed for students in 10th grade, but is also available for all High School students who have not been through confirmation.

Acolytes
Acolytes support and lead the community’s Worship of God by assisting the clergy during the service. Acolytes visually draw the hearts of the congregation to God through tending crosses, torches, flags, banners, the Gospel Book, and, on special occasions, incense. They also assist the clergy at the table during Holy Communion.

Youth Choir (Sundays 4pm-5pm)

The Youth Choir is led by our Director of Music, George Chesnut. They sing monthly at the
10:30 service along with the Adult Choir, and at Holidays and special services, including
Evensong. We use a wide ranging choral repertoire suited for the voices we have in any given
year.

Brandon felt the call to ministry when he was 18 years old and he has been serving in the church ever since. As a life-long learner, he has received a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary. Brandon has been married to his wife Kelli for 17 years and they have three children, Kenzie, Caleb, and Zendaya. As both foster and adoptive parents, they have a passion for serving the vulnerable and a desire to mobilize the church in impacting the lives of others. Brandon gets to live into this passion by being the Youth Minister here at St. Peter and St. Paul and by serving as the Executive Director of an orphan care ministry called Project 82 Kenya.

Our Values

Life-Together — Growth happens in community. We will seek to integrate the youth ministry into the church as a whole, create a team of adults who are investing in teenagers, and empower parents to disciple their own children.
Testimony — Our faith grows as we share our faith. We will create opportunities for students to share, pray, and ask questions.
Means of Grace — Growth happens as we open ourselves up to God’s grace and presence. We will teach young people about prayer, reading and meditating on scriptures, the sacraments, and worship.
Compassion — Growth happens when we use God’s gifts for His glory and to the service of others. We will give young people opportunities to serve and lead.
Holiness — the goal of the student ministry is holiness. It is to do the ministry in such a way that our young people and volunteers grow up in Christ.
