Choirs

The Ministry of Music in this parish is first and foremost for the Worship of God by the whole congregation. We also Grow Disciples by learning, prayer and Christian community.

Our Choirs include a Children’s Choir for grades 2-5, a Youth Choir for grades 6-12, Adult Choir, and a Handbell Choir. Our choirs serve primarily at the 10:30 service on Sunday mornings, and at holidays and special services.  Our Director of Music, George Chesnut, directs the choirs and plays our excellent organ and pianos.  We sing music of the masters, from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. Singers are always welcome.  No audition is required.  Musical training is not necessary to participate in the choir; it is helpful to read music, but not a requirement. We seek a willingness to commit, the heart to praise God, and a love for one another.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir gathers singers from grades 2-5. We practice each Tuesday from 5:30 – 6:15 PM (returning from break August 16).
The Children’s Choir sings occasionally at the 10:30 service along with the adult and Youth Choirs, and at Holidays and special services, such as Advent Lessons & Carols. Choristers learn the basics of singing and reading music, and how to sing together as a group. Since the Children are important leaders of our worship service, we learn about the elements of the service, the prayers, hymns and service music. We grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, and we have a lot of fun along the way!

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir includes singers from grades 6-12 (Middle and High Schoolers). We practice each Sunday from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. The Youth Choir sings monthly at the 10:30 service along with the Adult Choir, and at Holidays and special services, including Evensong. We use a wide ranging choral repertoire suited for the voices we have in any given year. Our Youth Choir has shown exceptional leadership in the parish, both musically and in their commitment to their ministry. So we finished the year with a trip to Six Flags to celebrate.

Adult Choir

Our Adult Choir sings every Sunday at the 10:30 AM service, sometimes with the Children’s and/or Youth Choirs. We practice every Wednesday from 7:30 – 9:00 PM (returning from break August 10), with 80% singing, and 20% prayer and laughter! Our repertoire includes choral music from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. We also sing at special holiday services, Evensong from time to time, and Advent Lessons & Carols.
